The Ide Gabriel Ezekwo Foundation has donated 1,000 copies of an inspirational book, IN HIS DAYS to post-primary schools in Anambra State through the Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC, Awka.
The books were presented on Tuesday by the Founder and CEO of the Foundation, Engineer Chief Samuel Ezekwo, Ide Umuchu, who was represented at the event by the Coordinator of the Foundation, Chief Cosmas Nwafor.
Speaking during the presentation at the PPSSC headquarters in Awka, Chief Nwafor said the donation is aimed at partnering with the Commission to instill positive moral values in students through reading.
He urged school authorities to encourage the use of the book through reading sessions, quizzes, and debates. According to him, such activities will help students imbibe lessons of hard work, discipline, and community service.
“This initiative is to support the government’s efforts in building character and promoting sound values among our youths. We believe that when young people read and discuss good books, it strengthens their commitment to excellence and service to society,” he said.
Chief Nwafor also commended the Anambra State Government under His Excellency, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, for its commitment to education and value reorientation in the state.
Receiving the books on behalf of the Commission, the Secretary of PPSSC, Mrs. Bernadine Ngozi Anago, described the content of IN HIS DAYS as timely and relevant to the needs of students in today’s society.
She directed Zonal Directors to ensure that principals receive the books and integrate them into school reading and extracurricular programmes for maximum impact.
Mrs. Anago expressed appreciation to Ide Samuel Ezekwo for his consistent philanthropic contributions to education in Anambra State, noting his support to institutions including the Government Technical College, GTC, Umuchu, and other schools across the state.
“We thank Ide Samuel Ezekwo for his generosity and commitment to the development of education. His efforts are helping to shape the future of our students,” she said.
The donation is expected to benefit thousands of students across public secondary schools in the state.
