Ifako-Ijaiye Local Govt Signs MOU With MICROSOFT, TECH4DEV To Take Youths Off The Streets

As a follow-up to partnership talks birthed few days into his administration and in tandem with the UAH H.E.E.D.S Agenda for a Greater Ifako-Ijaiye, the Executive Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat, has finally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Technology for Social Change and Development Initiative (Tech4Dev), an implementing partner of Microsoft Company, to facilitate training and empowerment of thousands of Ifako-Ijaiye Youths alongside Local Government Officials in the next 3 years.

Specifically, the MoU signing between Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government and Tech4Dev of Microsoft Company has signaled the commencement of implementation phase for successive training programmes and empowerment initiatives for youths in the Local Government. The brief ceremony took place on Thursday, 19th August at the Executive Chairman's Office
“Today, we are signing an MoU with Technology for Social Change and Development Initiative (Tech4Dev) an implementing partner of Microsoft to take the idle and jobless youths of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government off the streets. As part of our H.E.E.D.S Agenda for a Greater Ifako-Ijaiye, this initiative is designed to bring good governance to our grassroot communities, like never before.”

“It is the first of its kind in Lagos State, as Ifako-Ijaiye is taking the lead. With this gesture, our administration is demonstrating high commitment towards reducing the unemployment rates, while creating jobs and meaningful engagements across board” – Prince Usman said
Mr. Oluwafemi Daniel Ojo, an aide to the Executive Chairman, confirmed that the engagement with the Tech4Dev and Microsoft team was an implementing development of Prince Usman’s administrative focus on technological advancement and job creation.

He also noted that the partnership entails training of local government officials alongside 2,500 youths through the next 3 years, while creating job opportunities on merit by upscaling the beneficiaries into the 4th Industrial Revolution Jobs.
Microsoft is a multinational technology firm and one of several international organizations UAH will be engaging with towards bringing greater impacts to grassroot communities in Ifako-Ijaiye.

Also at the MoU signing event were Barr. Agunloye Samuel Ayodele (Legal Officer, Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government); Joel Ogunsola (Co-founder/Director of Partnerships and Sustainability, Tech4Dev); Oluwamuyemi Orimolade (Philanthropic Lead for Microsoft, Nigeria and Ghana); Oladiwura Oladepo (Co-founder/Executive Director, Tech4Dev) and Afeez Mustapha (an aide to the Executive Chairman).
