Igbo APC Chairmanship: Dimgba Will Be Banished If He Resigns As Eze – Ezendigbo
CHUKA UBAH

The last may not have been heard yet about the import of the recent declaration by the Caretaker Chairman of APC Lagos State, Hon. Tunde Balogun, that Igbo traditional rulers should not take elective position in the Party and should be in their palaces as advisers to politicians.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that decision was said to have directly affected Eze Ndigbo in Ikeja, Eze Uche Dimgba, who was appointed as Executive Coordinator of Igbo APC Lagos State, by the Apex leader, Chief Joe Igbokwe.
Eze Dimgba was said to be shocked over the decision and had been contemplating to resign as Ezendigbo Ikeja and take the political position as Coordinator of Igbo APC in Lagos.

However, Ezendigbo Lagos State, Eze Christian Nwachukwu, has said that it may not be possible for Eze Dimgba to resign because the action will amount to desecration of the Igbo traditional stool, which he knows the consequence involves banishment to exile in line with the tradition and culture of Ndigbo.
Nwachukwu explained that Kingship position is for life and it is not position one will wake up and said he was no longer the King, which he said Dimgba is aware of it.
Besides, Eze Dimgba was part of signatories on the general guidelines for those who wanted to become cultural leaders, Eze of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in diaspora.
In the guidelines sighted by P.M.EXPRESS, paragraphs 10 &15 states:
“Any person aspiring to be Eze resident in Lagos or any place in Nigeria outside Igbo land or Diaspora, must not be partisan politician, and should not coordinate political activities or go to political rallies. He may be visited by any political party representative in his domain or outside his domain. The title is for life but not hereditary unless where the Apex Ohanaeze authority decides in a case of sanction.”
Those who signed the guidelines were: HRM, Eze Hyacinth Ohazulike, Eze Uche Dimgba, Eze, Anthony Elui, Eze John Nwosu, Eze Pat Eneh and late Eze Gordian Dim Ojiaku.
Members of the Committee were Chief Guy Ikokwu, Chairman, Chief John Uche as Secretary, other members were General Ben Okafor, Prince Andy Moore Ezejioha, Chief Mike Chidebelu, Mr. Goodnews Ugoji and Chief Thompson Ohia.
This may have foreclosed Eze Dimgba’s chances of becoming the Executive Coordinator of Igbo APC in Lagos State having been disqualified going by the APC leadership directive and the Igbo traditional stool, which he occupies as Ezendigbo in Ikeja, Lagos.
Already, some stakeholders believed to be of Hon. Jude Idimogu’s faction, had Igbo APC Congress at the Igbo Community Centre and nominated Chief Anselm Njoku as replacement for Eze Uche Dimgba, whose faction, which is loyal to Chief Joe Igbokwe, described the Congress as charade.
But Eze Nwachukwu insisted that it was the decision of the Igbo APC members in line with the APC Caretaker Chairman, Hon. Balogun’s directive and Chief Anselm Njoku has been presented to the APC and Lagos State Government for endorsement.
He described Njoku as the person who has capacity to mobilize Ndigbo in Lagos State and the Igbo traditional rulers from the 57 Local Government areas as they have endorsed him.
