Igbo Community In Alimosho Set To Mark New Yam Festival On Saturday

Igbo community in Alimosho Local Government area, Lagos State, has concluded plans to mark this year New Yam Festival this Saturday, 14th November, 2020.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the event will be held at the palace of the Ezendigbo and Chairman, Chieftaincy Igbo Council of traditional rulers in Alimosho LGA, Eze (Dr) Lawrence Nnamdi Eze, located at 26 Popoola Street, off Isijiola Street, opposite Police Station, Ikotun area of Lagos.
The event will attracts Igbo sons and daughters including friends from other ethnic groups within and outside Lagos State. The Special Guest of Honour is General Elvis Njoku while Chief Douglass Onochie, Eze Umuokorobia in Igbo land, will be the Chairman of the occasion including other dignitaries.
This was confirmed by Eze Lawrence Nnamdi Eze, who is the Chief Host and former Governing Board Member, Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Nguru, Yobe State.
Eze explained that the event is an annual festival for Ndigbo to come together to thank God for the gift of life, protection and provision for the Igbo despite challenges.
He also said it is the period for the Igbo to engage themselves in discussions and bring suggestions for the progress all Igbo people in general and to showcase Igbo cultural heritage such masquerades, difference dance groups and the creative abilities of Igbo people.
Eze Lawrence further stated that it is a period to honour some Igbo sons and daughters, who have distinguished themselves in their various fields.
He enjoined Igbo sons and daughters to come out in good numbers to welcome and honour Igbo friends from other tribes who will be attending the event, which will further enable the tribes to build unity and understanding for peacefully coexistence in order to move Lagos State forward.
