The BOT of the Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos State has stated that it cannot recognize suspected crooks as Ndieze and therefore, alerted the members of the public to beware of the group parading themselves as Council of Ndieze led by self acclaimed Chief Chika Nwokedi a.k.a Eze because they are impersonators.

P.M.EXPRESS reports as was disclosed by the BOT Chairman, Dr Jonathan Nnaji, in a statement on behalf of the BOT over the recent publication by a group constituting nuisance led by Chief Nwokedi claiming to be Chairman of Council of Ndieze in Lagos State.

“For the purpose of the records, the BOT does not recognize Chief Chika Nwokedi as Eze and cannot ascertain if he is a Chief from his home town as the Igbo Speaking Community does not accept questionable characters as Ezendigbo in Lagos State.”

“Chief Nwokedi has visited the BOT two times and was asked questions. He made certain claims which were lies and was asked to bring proof. He ran away instead and such a character does not qualify to be Eze ” Nnaji stated.

Dr Nnaji explained that the only Council of Ezeigbo of the Igbo Speaking Community recognized by the BOT is the one led by Ezendigbo of Aboru, Eze Ephraim Nnaemeka.

He explained that the authentic Council of Ezendigbo was formed in 2003 and has been in existence and the present President General of the Igbo Speaking Community, Chief Sunday Udeh, was part of the electoral committee of the authentic Council of Ezendigbo.

In the statement, the BOT warned the members of the public to beware of the group purportedly led by Nwokedi as it will not accept any liability on their actions as the custodian of the Igbo Speaking Community.

The Board recalled what happened on the emergence of the rebel group parading themselves as Council of Ndieze led by Nwokedi. It noted that there was a lingering  crises in the Igbo Speaking Community for several years, which led to the emergence of two factions led by Chief Sunday Udeh and Chief Sunday Eze.

The factions crowned some people as Ezendigbo during the crises before peace finally returned to the Igbo Speaking Community and Chief Sunday Udeh emerged as the consensus President.

Part of the resolution before the election was that the Ezendigbo crowned by Chief Udeh and Chief Eze will join the Authentic Council of Ezendigbo after they meet certain conditions and are ratified by the BOT.

The conditions included: Letter from the President General of such person’s town union, Letter of recognition by the traditional ruler of such person,  addresses, business, in order to ascertain if such person has any criminal records etc.

For instance, Eze Chika Nwokedi has been claiming that he is a traditional leader in his home town, Obodoukwu in Imo State, and the BOT wants to have a proof that he is indeed one as he had claimed.

He also claimed to be a President General of Ladipo Market and the BOT wants the proof also because preliminary investigations by the BOT revealed that Obodoukwu town does not crown Eze Okpoko and he was not the President General of Ladipo Market as attested to by his town people. Therefore, Chief Nwokedi is fake!

Dr Nnaji stated that Chief Chika Nwokedi refused the conditions and insisted that none of his members should be profiled and that the BOT and authentic Council of Ezendigbo should accept them like that which is not possible.

”There is a procedure before one is recognized as Eze in the Igbo Speaking Community and part of it is that you must be screened, profiled and certificate of recognition will be given to that effect by the BOT” he stated.

Dr Jonathan Nnaji asked Nwokedi to tell members of the public what he is hiding that he does not want to be profiled by the BOT to know if his claims are real or fake.

On the status of the board, it reiterated its earlier statement that the BOT is intact and functional under the leadership of Dr Jonathan Nnaji and efforts are being made to replace the members of the BOT that are now late, which was delayed due to the crisis in the Igbo Speaking Community.

The Board stated that no amount of intimidation will make it to change the stance to recognize Nwokedi and his group without profiling them because they don’t want crooks and people of questionable characters parading themselves as Eze under the Igbo Speaking Community as registered with the CAC and created under the Act of Parliament.
