IGP Adamu Leads Force Management Team On Condolence Visit To Gambo-Jimeta’s Family

The Inspector General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM, mni, on 22nd January, 2021, led members of the Force Management Team to the “Janazah” prayer and burial of the former Inspector General of Police, Muhammadu Gambo-Jimeta who passed-on on Thursday, 21st January, 2021 in Abuja. The IGP, who earlier paid a condolence visit to the family of the late IGP, was also at the Gudu Cemetery, Abuja where the late Super Icon and former Police Chief was laid to rest.

Born on 15th April, 1937 in Jimeta, Adamawa State, the late IGP Gambo-Jimeta joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1959 as a Cadet Sub-Inspector. He rose through the ranks and served the Force in different capacities. He was appointed the 7th indigenous Inspector General of Police and Member, Armed Forces Ruling Council, Federal Republic of Nigeria in 1986, a position he held for close to four years before his meritorious retirement from the service of the Nigeria Police Force in December, 1989. Since retiring from the Force, he held key national positions including the National Security Adviser (NSA) and Minister of Agriculture.

The IGP, while commiserating with the family of the late former IGP, described him as a courageous super cop, an excellent and incorruptible security expert and a quintessential elder statesman whom the Police family as well as the country at large, would miss greatly. Also present at the burial ceremony were the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, His Excellency, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, former Inspectors General Police: IGP Aliyu Attah, CFR, NPM, mni, IGP M.D Abubakar, CFR, NPM, mni, IGP Suleiman Abba, NPM, NPOM, mni and IGP Ibrahim K. Idris, NPM, mni, amongst other dignitaries.
