The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), on Tuesday, joined officials of the Department of Environment during a drainage desilting exercise carried out at Afariogun Street, Seriki Aro, Ikeja.

The exercise, which forms part of the Council’s proactive environmental sanitation efforts, was executed by staff of the Department of Environment under the leadership of the Head of Department (HoD). It is aimed at improving water flow, preventing flooding, and promoting a cleaner and healthier environment for residents of the area.

The Council Chairman reaffirmed his belief in leadership by example and hands-on governance.

The desilting exercise aligns with the IKEJA Agenda, particularly the ‘E’ pillar, which focuses on Environmental and Health Initiatives.

Comrade Dauda noted that environmental cleanliness remains a critical component of disease prevention, flood control, and overall community well-being.

He assured that Ikeja Local Government will continue to prioritize environmental interventions that directly impact the safety, health, and quality of life of its residents.
