Ikeja LG Boss Attends Town Hall Meeting On Maternal Mortality & Women’s Health

The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), attended a crucial townhall meeting focused on maternal mortality and sexual reproductive health and rights.

The event, themed “Women’s Lives Matter: No Woman Must Die While Giving Birth,” brought together key stakeholders, health advocates, and community leaders to deliberate on strategies to improve maternal healthcare outcomes and safeguard the lives of women.

Speaking at the event, Comrade Akeem Dauda reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting accessible and quality healthcare services for women, particularly at the grassroots level.

He emphasized the importance of awareness, timely medical intervention, and collaborative efforts between government, healthcare providers, and the community in reducing maternal mortality rates. He also commended the organizers for championing such a vital cause that directly impacts families and the broader society.

Accompanying the Council Chairman at the event were prominent figures from the legislative and administrative arms of Ikeja Local Government, including the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Ogunseye Rasheed Adisa; the Majority Leader, Hon. Ganiu Lawal; and the Chief Whip, Hon. Idris Salami. Also in attendance were the Head of Department, Agric., Alhaja Badejo Adeola; the Head of Department, Information, Alhaja Kofoworola Dosunmu; the Ikeja CDC Chairperson, Alhaja Folami; the Ikeja CAN President, Pastor Isreal; alongside other religious and community leaders.

The town hall meeting served as a platform for robust discussions, advocacy, and the strengthening of partnerships aimed at ensuring safer motherhood and protecting women’s health rights.

The Council Chairman reiterated that his administration remains steadfast in supporting initiatives that promote the well-being of residents and will continue to align with programs that drive sustainable health development in Ikeja.
