The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), on Wednesday hosted executives of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ikeja Chapter, to the Council’s monthly prayer meeting, a faith-based initiative established since his assumption of office.
The monthly prayer meeting is devoted to seeking divine guidance and blessings for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR; the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu; Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke (MHR, Ikeja Federal Constituency); Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu (ARK); Hon. Seyi Lawal; the six Councillors of Ikeja Local Government; the management and staff of the Council; and the good people of Ikeja. Special prayers are consistently offered for peace, unity, progress, and sustainable development in Ikeja, Lagos State, and Nigeria at large.
At this month’s session, the Council Chairman, Comrade Dauda, used the opportunity to engage the CAN leadership on civic responsibility, appealing to them to encourage their congregations to actively participate in the ongoing INEC voter registration exercise as well as the APC membership e-registration at designated centres. He emphasized that active participation in the democratic process remains a critical pathway to good governance and the delivery of democratic dividends to the people.
In their brief response, the CAN executives commended the Chairman for sustaining the monthly prayer initiative, prayed for divine wisdom, strength, and success in his leadership, and assured him of their readiness to continue promoting peace, civic consciousness, and responsible citizenship among Christians in Ikeja.
