One of the cardinal pillars of the I.K.E.J.A Agenda; the master blueprint of the administration of the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD) is E, which stands for Environmental and Health Care Initiatives. Since assuming office, Chairman AKOD has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability, public health, and community wellbeing. This initiative, which commenced from his very first day in office, has continued to gain remarkable traction and attract commendations from residents within and beyond Ikeja.

In furtherance of this commitment, Comrade Dauda today led a comprehensive environmental sanitation exercise along Awolowo Way. Accompanied by his dedicated team, the Department of Environment and Sanitation headed by Sanitarian (Mrs.) Olatunde Omotayo, and patriotic members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), the exercise focused on desilting blocked drainages, clearing accumulated debris, uprooting overgrown weeds, and sensitizing residents and business owners on proper environmental practices.

True to his leadership style of leading from the front, the Council Chairman actively participated in the sanitation activities, personally engaging in the clearing and desilting process. His hands-on involvement underscores his administration’s resolve to translate policy into practical action.

Comrade Dauda reiterated that a clean and healthy environment is fundamental to public health, economic productivity, and sustainable development. He emphasized that thriving businesses and vibrant communities can only exist in a hygienic and orderly environment. According to him, environmental responsibility is a collective duty that requires the active participation of all residents.

The Ikeja LG Chairman made it unequivocally clear that environmental nuisance will not be tolerated within Ikeja Local Government. He noted that Environmental Health Officers have been given strict directives to enforce sanitation laws and address any environmental violations promptly. Residents, market operators, and corporate organizations are therefore, urged to maintain cleanliness around their premises at all times.

The Comrade Dauda administration remains steadfast in its mission to build a cleaner, healthier, and more organized Ikeja. Through sustained enforcement, continuous sensitization, and strategic environmental interventions, Ikeja is steadily setting the pace as a model local government in environmental management.
