In today’s world, violence against children remains one of the biggest problems affecting families and societies.

With Nigeria not an exception, to stem this social malady, Chief (Mrs.) Abigail Balogun, the wife of the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Lagos State, on Monday put together a seminar to advocate an end to every form of violence against kids.

The seminar, with the theme “Ending Violence Against Children”, took place at the headquarters of Ikeja Local Government with various stakeholders and dignitaries within the local government in attendance.

Speaking at the seminar, Chief (Mrs) Balogun pointed out that more than often, many cases of abuses were hidden and not reported or investigated thus make the problem to remain pervasive.

She thus charged all the people in attendance to join hands together in ending all forms of violence against children.

Balogun also implored the participants to report any incidents of violence to Ikeja Local Government Council through the office of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) for counseling.

She added that information can also be passed to the Ministry of Women Affairs at Lagos State Secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja for the prosecution of the accused persons through the officer of the Attorney-General of Lagos State.
