Ikeja Local Govt Distributes Food Palliatives To Widows And The Elderly

In further demonstration of its commitment to social welfare and inclusive governance, Ikeja Local Government on Wednesday carried out the distribution of food palliatives to widows and elderly residents across the local government area.

The intervention, which took place at the Ikeja Local Government Marriage Registry Hall, was organized under the leadership of the Chairperson, Ikeja Local Government, Mrs. Temitope Fausat Dauda, as part of ongoing efforts to cushion the effects of economic hardship on vulnerable groups within the community.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Dauda emphasized that caring for widows and senior citizens remains a core priority of the Ikeja Local Government administration. She noted that the initiative reflects the administration’s resolve to ensure that no resident is left behind, particularly those who require special support and attention.

The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), also reaffirmed the commitment of the local government to people-oriented programmes that directly impact the lives of residents. He stated that the distribution of food palliatives aligns with the administration’s broader social protection agenda aimed at promoting dignity, compassion, and shared prosperity.

The CouncilManager of Ikeja Local Government who was also in attendance reiterated that Ikeja Local Government will continue to implement initiatives that support the welfare of vulnerable groups while complementing government efforts at improving the standard of living of residents.
Beneficiaries of the programme expressed appreciation to the Ikeja Local Government leadership for the timely intervention, describing it as a gesture of hope and reassurance during challenging times.
