I’m Not Your Husband – Man Tells Married Woman Who Got Battered Over Insult

In Lagos, a man, Obi Chinaka Cosmos, has allegedly battered a housewife, Amaka Anozie, while letting her know that he was not her husband, who she would insult in public, gave her serious beating and injured her in the process. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Itunu Street, by Century Road, Ago Palace Way, Okota, Lagos, where they reside.
The alleged assault was reported to the Police and Cosmos was then arrested for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and assault.
The suspect, Cosmos, had a disagreement with the married woman, Amaka, over an undisclosed matter and in the process, Amaka reportedly insulted and abused Cosmos repeatedly.
The insult was said to have angered Cosmos, who grabbed, slapped and threw her on ground before he rained several blows on her and injured her in the process.
It however, took the intervention of their neighbours present, who rescued Amaka and she was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment over the alleged assault.
The matter was reported to the Police at Area D Mushin, Lagos, for investigation. And after interrogation, the Police found Cosmos culpable and subsequently charged him before the Isolo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Inspector Oje Uagbale, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Okakhia, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
 The matter was adjourned till 3rd October, 2023, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
