Imo Assembly Urges State Govt To Reconstitute Board & Management Of IRROMA

Posted on May 23, 2024
The Imo State House of Assembly, during its plenary on Wednesday, 22nd May 2024, approved a motion urging the Imo State government to reconstitute the board and management of the Imo State Rural Roads Maintenance Agency (IRROMA) to complement the roads and infrastructural revolution already taking place in the State.
Moving the motion, the Member for Ngor Okpala State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Obinna Egu, Ph.D., emphasized that the purpose was to support the efforts of the Governor, His Excellency Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma. Since assuming office in 2020, Governor Uzodimma has made significant progress in constructing critical road infrastructures in the state through efficient resource management as part of his shared prosperity administration focused on reconstruction, rehabilitation, and recovery.
The lawmaker explained that the IRROMA initiative aims to transform the state into a model for industrialization, provision of social infrastructure, addressing environmental issues, and revitalizing key institutions. He also highlighted that IRROMA, through rural roads rehabilitation, will improve the living standards of rural dwellers, provide easier access for farmers to transport their produce to the market, and address insecurity issues.
He expressed optimism that revamping the defunct IRROMA will enhance the government’s rural roads revolution, helping to prevent flooding in rural communities of Imo State. He urged his colleagues to support the motion.
The motion, seconded by the Member for Isiala Mbano constituency, Hon. Sam Osuji, received positive contributions from almost all the Honourable members present during the plenary session.
When the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe, called for a vote, it was unanimously endorsed, and the speaker directed the Clerk to convey the House resolution to the Governor.
