Imo Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Amara Iwuanyanwu Performs Ground Breaking Ceremony Of Nkwoebu Market Project

There is no doubt that in conflict -ridden communities, sociocultural and economic activities are usually disrupted due to unhealthy and unfriendly environment which may inadvertently lead to violence or lasting internal rift. As a result, development is being slowed down and opportunities punctuated by war of attrition.

While violence is senseless, peace is priceless, as it is a key component of development both in the urban and rural areas. 

In the light of above, last Thursday, April 16, 2021, the good people of Umuokwara Abba nay  Abba Autonomous Community (the Ancient Kingdom) experienced joy unspeakable  which had eluded the community for over a decade as members and leadership of the community across the four villages; Umulolo village, Umuduruagwu village, Umuonuna village and Umuosa na Ori village, shielded their swords and threw caution to the wind as they converged at the palace of His Royal Highness, Eze Ndubueze Maduson Maduabuchukwu (Uburu ll of Abba) to welcome the member representing Nwangele Constituency and Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Amara Iwuanyanwu, ably represented by his Chief of Staff, Chief Paul Duru, alongside the retinue of his entourage.

In according the August visitors warmth reception by presenting kolanut, Eze Ndubueze Maduabuchukwu poured out his royal blessings and performed the ritual as Igbo tradition demands, asking the gods of the land to protect and preserve the Member Representing Nwangele Constituency for his good intention to develop the community as a mark of fulfilling his social contract with Abba people after the elections.

In his own words, Uburu ll of Abba said: “Abba Community had suffered untoward set back over the years as a result of infighting and bickering, but with this well thought out developmental stride by Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu to develop the community,  may God bless his good intentions, bless his entourage and also bless Umu Abba. As we eat this kolanut, may it foster brotherly love, peace, and unity of purpose, which breeds development in a community”.

In displaying his royal touch of Abba hopsitality to his Special Guests, Eze Ndubueze Maduabuchukwu gifted the Imo Deputy Speaker and member representing Nwangele Constituency, Rt. Hon. Amara Iwuanyanwu, a very healthy goat for barbecue with exotic refined bottles of wine to send it home.  A show of hospitality which received a resounding applause by members of the Eze’s Cabinet and select Abba leaders.

Introducing the entourage of the Imo Deputy Speaker as led by Chief Paul Duru, President General of Abba Autonomous, Engr. Ken Iwuogo, saluted the avowed commitment of Rt. Hon. Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu in giving Nwangele Constituency effective representation in the State while also commending him for his legislative dexterity in ensuring that Abba benefits from the dividends of democracy under his watch.

The DG, Nwangele Project, and Chief of Staff to the State  lawmaker, Paul Duru, apologized  for the inevitable absence of his principal, who had an emergency meeting at the Government House, but disclosed the intention of their visit, which was the official ground breaking ceremony of the age long abandoned  Nkwoebu Market as facilitated by a number of Abba sons including;  Njoku Macdonald Obinna, Engr. Kene Iwuogo, Engr. Obinna  Azonobi, with the expressed approval of the traditional ruler of Abba Autonomous Community, Eze Ndubueze Maduabuchukwu,  and the support of Abba people.

Moving down to the Market Project site, the entourage of the Imo Deputy Speaker was received by the ‘Obiwuotu Cultural Dance of Abba’ as led by Emeka Okereke for the ground breaking ceremony. Chief of Staff to Rt. Hon. Amara Iwuanyanwu, Paul Duru, disclosed that Nkwoebu Market Project is very strategic to meet up  the immediate economic needs of the rural dwellers and should commence immediately after the ceremony as the Nwangele State Representative had promised to empower a number of Abba  women during the commissioning of the market.

Chief Duru expressed joy for the new spirit of peace and unity of purpose in the community as he told Abba people the great influence they command in Nwangele LGA as a strong force during elections . He however, sent a message of assurance from the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Amara Iwuanyanwu, who had vowed never to let ndi Abba down in the political scheme of things under his legislative watch.

A leader and stakeholder in the community, Engr. Obinna Azonobi, later played host to the entourage of the Imo Deputy Speaker and Abba people at his Umulolo  village, where everyone was entertained in the new found spirit of brotherly love, peace and progress of the community.  

Receiving the visitors, Mr. Friday Azonobi, father of the burgeon Real Estate mogul, Obinna Azonobi, handed over the kolanut to President General of Abba Autonomous Community,  Engr. Kene Iwuogo, to present before the visitors and Abba leaders present at the social gathering nay peace parley.

Obviously elated Chief Paul Duru, thanked in no small measures the warmth reception accorded them on behalf of the State Lawmaker and urged ndi Abba to work in this new found spirit and unity of purpose which fosters development.

While commending the progressive spirit of the trio of  Engr. Kene Iwuogo, Engr. Obinna Azonobi and  Amb. Njoku Macdonald Obinna, whom he said have powerful friends and contacts in the present administration, he also strongly advised them to always be on the same page so as to attract more Government presence in their own community.

During his short remarks, Obinna Azonobi advocated for a true  progressive Abba, where everyone is a stakeholder and contributes towards its social development. He also pushed further for a United Abba, where brothers and sisters come together, merry together and build together in the spirit of the new found love and peace existing in the community. 

In their separate remarks, Chief Sir Paul Iwuogo, Chief Okechukwu Achonye and Mr. Chidi Adom, also thanked the Imo Deputy Speaker for his good intentions to extend dividends of democracy to Abba community. They also challenged the new generation of Abba leaders to follow the footsteps of their forbearers, who led the community in their 30s and 40s with little or no education yet imprinted their names in the sands of time due to their visionary leadership through unity of purpose and brotherly love as one family.

Responding to the Market Project initiative, Chief Meshach Anoruo while commending the Imo Deputy Speaker, Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu, for such developmental bold step, he however, passionately appealed that the project is not abandoned half way having been flagged off for construction amid thunderous applause by the entire Abba community.

Other leaders present at the meeting included but not limited to: President General of Abba Autonomous Community, Engr. Kene Iwuogo, Hon. Barr. Mike Akandu, Barr. Lotanna Alinnor,   Ambassador of Peace, Njoku Macdonald Obinna, Chief Host, Engr. Obinna Azonobi, Nze Boniface Maranzu, Nze Oliver Chukwukere (Ikpo Abba), Chief Sir Paul Iwuogo, Chief Okechukwu Achonye, Chief Meshach Anoruo, Mr. Chidi Adom, Comr. Onyekachi Ogude, Chief Chigozie Bartholomew Agwunobi, Chief Nicholas Kpaduwa (Shankar Paul, Ekwete I of  Abba), Chief Hilary Okereke, Nze Anele Arihi, Mr. Ebere Arihi, among other leaders and members of the community.
