Having a dose of healthy respect for political leadership, religious and traditional institutions, amongst others, is one of the critical factors that any thoroughbred politician must put into considerations through consultation before, during and after every electoral outing.

But before that, a more friendly and accessible political leader  must have created relationships with people across all strata of life and impacted very positively on the lives of the mass of the members of his immediate constituency and beyond!

In lieu of the above, last weekend, Saturday, August 1, 2020, a major front liner for Imo North Senatorial District in the forthcoming bye -election, Hon. Chikwem Onuoha, alongside the  retinue of his colourful and mesmerized entourage and campaign organization consulted top Shared Prosperity Government appointees and other critical leaders from Okigwe Zone at the Imo Commissioners ‘ Quarters Owerri residence of the Honourable Commissioner for Youth & Sports, Chief Ogu Daniel Hamza.

Chief Chikwem Onuoha, who started by commending creme de la creme of Okigwe political leadership in attendance, also eulogized the State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma, for the appointment of Sir Bright Nwaelu as the Governor’s Chief Protocol Officer.
Chief Chikwem Onuoha also maintained that it was one of the best appointments made by the State Governor in recent times as Sir Bright Nwaelu brings to bear  his wealth of experience and administrative acumen having served past and successive administrations in the State; from 1999 till date.

At the behest of Okigwe political leadership, Hon. Chief Onuoha was given the floor to address his audience. The cerebral, proactive, sound, articulated and well groomed Senatorial hopeful, who understands perfectly the challenges of infrastructural gap, absence of Federal presence in Imo North Senatorial District and lack of unity of purpose in  leadership,  reiterated thus: “Okigwe Zone needs fresh blood in politics; people who can run with the ball rolling and not recycled politicians”.

Apologizing for being honest but blunt, Hon. Prince Chikwem Onuoha emphatically and regrettably stated that Okigwe Zone is practically backward in the scheme of infrastructural development; ranging from gully erosion sites, road dead traps and a number of moribund Federal establishments in the Zone.

“Unfortunately, Urban Ward 1 and 2 have not seen power supply for the past 10 years while it remains the Headquarters of the LGA”, Omeiheukwu expressed rather in a reflective mood.

Pressing home an overview analysis of his agenda for the good people of Okigwe Zone as aptly encapsulated in his political manifesto, the thoroughbred political maverick and billionaire real estate mogul, Chief Chikwem Onuoha informed Okigwe leadership in attendance that 80% of Onuimo people are farmers. Sadly enough, the LGA has no motorable and good access road as gully erosion has encroached and swept off many farm lands. He asked rather rhetorically, “How can you transport your goods and other farm harvests to their points of trade and exchange for money when you don’t have good access roads?”.

“My highly esteemed leaders and good people of Okigwe Zone, ‘you don’t need to search no more; the man for the job is here’. At a time like this, you need a vibrant young man to represent you at the Senate. You need someone who is loyal, accessible and shares in the Prosperity Agenda of the Senator Hope Uzodinma’s Administration. You don’t need  ‘Abuja based politicians’ anymore.Chikwem Onuoha is a home boy and is on ground.”

“Look no more as I have the requisite qualifications, leadership trainings, exposures and experiences to make Okigwe proud. The whole youths of Okigwe Zone are behind me. I am a friend of both the rich, the lowly, the down trodden and also powerful. I am accessible, I am jovial, I also understand the money and body language of the needy and people around me.”
“Okigwe Zone needs a homebred leader who can stop at Anara junction and the whole okada people will escort him home. And that is what I present. If I become your Senator by the grace of God, Abuja will be your second home address as you receive a touch of my hospitality as your man in the National Assembly whenever you come visiting.”

Electrifying, attention captivating and mind blowing best described the powerful 35 minutes well articulated master delivery of Prince Chikwem Onuoha’s overview analysis of the social development and leadership gap in Imo North Senatorial District as the grassroots politician meticulously drove home his points to the awe and chagrin of his audience; pointing out the various villages, communities , towns and LGAs where urgent attention is needed on road repairs and maintenance; dualization of strategic economic busy roads; resuscitation of moribund Federal establishments, Umuelem Water Scheme, re -connecting Amaraku Power Station to the national grid while ensuring balance in the civil service through federal character.

Prince Chikwem Onuoha reiterated his avowed commitment to bring Okigwe Zone on the political map of Nigeria through tested, timely and people -development legislation if given the opportunity to serve.

In his own words,, the proactive Senatorial hopeful maintained that “I am committed to youth empowerment, Okigwe development and respect for both the political leadership and traditional institutions”.

The front line Senatorial hopeful, Hon. Chikwem Onuoha, under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), no doubt, is a thoroughbred in the politics of Okigwe Zone with a cult-like followership across political divides and all walks of life as he had given meaning and true definition to the social welfare of his people both as a government functionary and private person.

He however, maintained that he has the exposure and experience having worked with the Senate House Committees on Appropriation Bill and Police Affairs in the past. As an Austrian trained lobbyist and erudite communicator, many political analysts and the Conservatives have opined that these are the two major requirements in lawmaking. Good a thing, Chikwem Onuoha has wealth of these legislative requirements as a  Senatorial hopeful.

Without mincing words, he told his listening audience that he has the popularity and financial capacity to fund and win his elections with the peoples consent. And has also adopted the Governor as his ‘godfather ‘ not some men in Abuja as he offered himself for public service while challenging the people to hold him accountable.

Having said that, he therefore, made a passionate and heart warming appeal to the Honourable Commissioners, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants to the Governor and other critical stakeholders from Okigwe Zone present in the meeting to unanimously adopt him as the party’s candidate in  the forthcoming Imo North Senatorial District Bye- Election;  since the State Governor cannot make any decisions in isolation.

From the strength of above, Chief (Amb.) Fabian Ihekweme PhD, Imo Commissioner for Foreign & International Affairs, during his remarks, maintained that Chikwem Onuoha has convinced him with his well presented speech and deep understanding of the challenges and political terrain of Okigwe Zone.

In his own words, the intellectual and cerebral Commissioner posited: ” I see the fire burning in you. I see the passion. I see the zeal and drive to help your people. I therefore, salute your resilience and courage. When I have the opportunity to speak, I will speak for you before the Governor”.

In what seemed like a striking statement, Dr. Ihekweme further expressed: “I have known Chikwem Onuoha for years, but  I think I know him better”.

Speaking in the same vein, Lady Ruby Emene, Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftain Affairs, maintained that Chikwem Onuoha has proven that he has all it takes to represent Okigwe Zone very effectively in the Senate. She therefore, congratulated him in advance.

Chief Regis Uwakwe, SA Special Duties, while saluting the dynamism and personal drive of Chief Chikwem Onuoha deposited thus: “You spoke to us in a way and manner a Senator from Okigwe zone should be. Thank you for the strength of rekindling our hope for a better senator from Okigwe Zone”.

Hon. Austin Nwachukwu; a former member of the House of Representatives for Okigwe South Federal Constituency and now Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodinma on National Assembly Matters and Ecology, during his remarks said that the leaders would wait to hear from all the aspirants present their manifesto before they take a stand on whom to support; of course, the best among the rest since money is not their driving force on choice of candidate.

According to Hon. Austin Nwachukwu, the Government  appointees from the Zone will sit down and critically analyse the various issues raised by each of the aspirant in terms of their understanding of the challenges of the zone; their integrity; track records and pedigree.

The political leadership consultation in Owerri had in attendance high profile Government appointees and critical leaders including the political structure of Chikwem Onuoha Campaign Organization led by Chief Donatus Chinedu Nwachukwu and Chief Chidinma Onyenagubo, Coordinator Operations while the head of the media team, Nze Emeka Obinwa was also present to take records of the watershed political meeting.
