Imo: Time To Cure PDP Of ‘Ori Na Crisis’ Syndrome

OGU BUNDU NWADIKE, M.A

Over the time, the concept of “ori na crisis” has evolved. It simply means “profiting in situations of crisis”. Physically and spiritually speaking, it’s a negative term.

There’s an English saying: “You don’t hit a man who’s on the ground”. But for the “ori na crisis”, hitting a man on the ground is good. Masochism is the way of an “ori na crisis”, who most often is a sadist.

In the politics of Imo State, Southeast Nigeria, for instance, the “ori na crisis” syndrome is a way of life, particularly by the opposition party or parties. I speak from point of view of experience as a former opposition media operative.

I committedly wrote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the sitting government of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

But with my change of political camps from PDP to APC, there has been a change of roles. I now write for APC against the PDP. With politics, all things are possible!

Since January 14, 2020 when the Supreme Court of Nigeria in its wisdom ruled in finality that it was Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma and his APC that won the 2019 governorship election, the defeated PDP has been lacing the leadership and governance routes of Governor Uzodimma with banana peels, landmines, secret ditches, all designed and aimed at his slip, fall and fail.

If we line up our instances from the current experiences to the previous and past, we will begin with the unresolved brouhaha in the Imo State House of Assembly (IMHA), in which the Deputy Speaker was purportedly impeached.

While it was the PDP media soldier ants that broke the news, it was the same media mercenary of the PDP that had kept it trending on the social media, after it had become obvious that attempt to impeach him was foiled and botched by the same Honourable members of the House.

No doubt, the hostilities in the House qualify for a crisis situation. That the PDP in Imo State is rejoicing about the ugly situation, which was allegedly caused by the poor management of the House by the Speaker, is a simple evidence that PDP has like the vulture become a sadistic and masochistic party that glories in any observed losses and pains that its opponent may suffer. Those are characteristics of “ori na crisis”!

Why does the PDP want to see to it that the Deputy Speaker is impeachable even when no impeachable offence has been established by the IMHA or by the busy body PDP? What’s their interest in that matter?

We thought that the PDP should have been busy proving their leaders innocent of the allegations that PDP leaders were in league with a former governor of the State, and a serving Senator from the State, wasting billions of naira in sponsoring actions that see the illegal and unconstitutional ouster Governor Uzodimma.

But alas, to prove their traducers true, right and correct, Imo PDP has been driving rough, instigating Ndimo further to consider social strife and mayhem that they will present as evidence of their falsehood, propaganda and blackmail against Governor Uzodimma that Imo State is ungovernable.

The sole aim being for the Federal Government to remove the governor and declare a state of emergency in the State, based on activities of PDP, the ori na crisis party.

Going by the extent some PDP operatives have been interpreting and rejoicing at the failed purported impeachment of the Deputy Speaker, there’s every reason to believe the allegations that leaders of the Party, one of whom had boasted to make Imo State ungovernable, are complicit and guilty as alleged.

When the strange insecurity erupted in Imo State early in 2021, the PDP waxed lyrical about it adding petrol to the raging fire and sustaining the tempo of the tension in the State through negative media works. It was more of media-based insecurity.

When Governor Uzodimma pulled the State out of the vice grip of the strange insecurity, the same implacable Imo PDP media head hunters to making Governor Uzodimma the Almighty God, who has answers to all questions and problems bedeviling the State.

And to ensure they continually polluted the minds of Ndimo against Governor Uzodimma, who they had accepted and adopted as Imo governor, the PDP chose to see and propagate any slight negative situation, and blame the occurrence of same on the governor.

Bad roads. Kidnaps. Robbery. Clash between communities and herders, armed robbery, even natural rainfall, flooding of gutters, drainages and rain water flood channels, etcetera were all blamed on the governor. As far as the PDP was concerned, Governor Uzodimma was omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent.

Even the recent attack on Justice Mary Ukaego Odili has been blamed on Governor Uzodimma by PDP. They accuse him of taciturn and reticent, oblivious of the fact that the silent achiever quietly visits victims of violence and commiserates with them, while delegating his aides and agents to represent him on some occasions.

Incidentally, in spite of all the negative attitudes of the PDP against the governor, he has kept moving from grace to grace, glory to glory, power to power, victory to victory, and success to success.

There’s no gainsaying that Governor Uzodimma has proved to be a great leader with enough grace, with which he has been disgracing his detractors and enemies of the State by copious evidences of good leadership and good governance!

There’s a dire need to cure Imo PDP of the hatred and malice ailment which manifest as “ori na crisis” syndrome. They must be healed of sadism and masochism. They must be exorcized of the witchcraft of envy and jealously against the constituted authority of Imo State.

This short essay is our humble contribution to the required antidotes to save Imo PDP from _ori na crisis_ syndrome. We’ll implore Ndimo to donate their cures for the bad condition of Imo PDP, which makes them go the extra mile to hurt and harm Imo State in the guise of hurting and harming Governor Uzodimma!

By God’s grace, Imo State must be rehabilitated, reconstructed and recovered!!
