INEC Unveils Electronic Voter Register For Anambra November 6 Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has presented the Electronic Voter Register, EVR for the November 6 Governorship Election in Anambra State.
Making the presentation in Awka , the Director, Voter Registry of the Commission, Engineer Iro Gambo, represented by Olatunde Gafar explained that the Commission resumed the conduct of CVR nationwide in June 2021 with on-line pre registration and physical in-person which commenced in July 2021 and further devolved to Registration Areas level in Anambra from 30th August to 5th September 2021.
Engr. Gambo listed delimitation of Anambra State to include Local Government Areas 21, Registration Areas 326, Polling Units 5720 with total registered voters at 2,525,471 and gave number of registered voters in each Local Government Area of the 21 Local Government Areas with grand total of 1,964,858.
He urged ndi Anambra and political parties to always adhere to the Commission’s guidelines and the laid down safety protocols on Covid 19 pandemic.
On Technology innovations for the conduct of the Governorship Election, the Director Information and Communication Technology, ICT, Engineer Chidi Nwafor, represented by Abinbola Oladunjoye and Mr. Ama Agu stated that INEC is committed to improving voter registration process, noting that they are now using facial and finger print for re-duplication process through biometric identification system.
He gave explanations of the All in One device that will be used for accreditation during the election and on how to log in to INEC Results Viewing, IReV Portals to the election results at Local Government levels.
Party chairman, secretary or authorized representative of eight political parties including All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, People’s Democratic party PDP, All Progressives Congress, APC who were present at the event received register of voters from the Resident Electoral Commissioner INEC Anambra state, Dr. Nwachukwu Orji.
