Jilted Man, 31, Arrested Over Attempts Scuttle Lady’s Marriage With Lover

A 31-year old man, Nwaeze Tochukwu, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly blackmailing a lady, Evelyn Oyeyemi, by sending stinker message to her suitor, Oluwasegun Akinwumi, in order to scuttle their marriage plans.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Tochukwu, allegedly sent a message to .Akinwumi through his X handle (Twitter) that he should stop his marriage plans with Evelyn Oyeyemi because he had earlier slept with her and paid her off.
The suspect therefore, urged the suitor, Akinwumi, to abort the plans of getting married to her because she is not who he think she is, thus tarnishing her image and personality.
The matter was reported to the Commissioner of Police who directed the Tactical Team to move into action. The Police operatives eventually arrested and detained him at the Command headquarters for investigation over his alleged conduct.
After thorough interrogation,, the Police found him culpable for wilfully wanting to scuttle the marriage by blackmailing the victim and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The charges read:
COUNT 1: “That you, NWAEZE TOCHUKWU ‘M’ and others now at large, within the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit; cyber stalking and thereby committed an offence punishable under criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
COUNT II: “That you, NWAEZE TOCHUKWU ‘M’ and others now at large within the aforesaid magisterial district, did send to one OLUWASEGUN AKINWUNMI via his X handle (Twitter) that he should stop his marriage plans with one EVELYN OYEYEMI, that you earlier slept with her and paid her off, he should abort the mission as she is not who he think she is, thus tarnishing her image and personality and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 24 (1) (2) (a) (i) of the Cybercrime Act 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O. Tanimola, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
