A 42-year old embittered man, Isa Adewuyi, had a nasty experience in Lagos State after he bought an expensive phone and gave to a single lady, Esther Olajide, during her birthday and later proposed to her for marriage and she rejected it outrightly.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that after the incident, the man, Adewuyi, became angry, went on the social media and posted unprintable things against her and her father, Arebuwa Olajide and warned men not to get married to her because she was a prostitute.

The incident happened at Owokoniran Street, off Council bus stop, Idimu area of Lagos, where they reside.

Adewuyi was said to have fallen in love with Esther and wanted to get married to her but she refused, which forced him into trying to blackmail her.

That action by Adewuyi, who hails from Abeokuta in Ogun State, has landed him in trouble as his conduct was reported to the Police at Gender Section of Idimu Division and he was arrested and detained for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

During interrogation, the suspect, Adewuyi, narrated to the Police how he fell in love with Esther Olajide, bought her an expensive phone on her birthday and later proposed to her for marriage but she rejected and humiliated him.

However, Esther Olajide insisted that she was surprised that he bought the phone and presented to her on her birthday, which she appreciated but was amused when he came again later to propose to her, which she rejected it and he then started blackmailing her and the family including her father.

The Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace in the community.

However, he pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.

The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K Dosumu-Uthman, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned till 23rd October, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
