Kidnappers On Rampage In Lagos; 5 Abducted In 5 Days

For the past one week, the residents of Isheri Oshun, a suburbs of Lagos had not known peace following the alleged rampant kidnapping going on in the area.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered five persons have been abducted and taken away by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers in the past one week and they have not been found.
Thus, the residents can no longer sleep at nights and some of the well-to-do persons living among them had to relocate elsewhere for safety.
According to the residents, the gunmen invaded an area in the community called White Sand and abducted some persons and since then, they have not returned to their houses.
Sources said at least one person was abducted on daily basis for the past days which have caused panic in the area.
They said the gang invaded and operated in the area in the evening in SUVs loaded with arms and shot sporadically and forced their target into their vehicle and drove off to their escape route toward Ijododo and Ijegemo area which had link with Festac town and river.
When our correspondent visited the Isheri Oshun police division, the DPO was not around to confirm the incident.
Police source said, there were reports of abduction of persons which the police are carefully investigation.
Our correspondent learnt from the police source that the security agency is treating the report carefully to ascertain whether it was a false information before they will declare them missing.
When our correspondent sought to know the identity of the victims, the source declined and said they have already informed the Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni.
When our correspondent contacted the Police Relation Officer, DSP Dolapo Badmos to confirm, her phone rang and she did not pick the call.
Our correspondent confirmed authoritatively on Thursday some persons were actually abducted in the area and have not been found.
P.M.EXPRESS learnt the situation had placed the residents in a state of apprehension as they suspect one another believing the problem could be the handiwork of insiders.
