Two female Police Inspectors, Stella Ekpenyong and Akwugo Anyanele, attached to Area D Command, Mushin, Lagos State, had a nasty experience after they arrested a lady, Regina Nwangwuru, for interrogation at the Command.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the 29-year old Regina Nwangwuru allegedly attacked and beat them up despite the fact that she was at the Command for interrogation over her alleged conduct.
The lady’s action has landed her in trouble as she was consequently charged for the alleged assault on the Policewomen.
The victims, Stella Ekpenyong with Force number,  352538 and Akwugo Anyanele with Force number, 291290, suffered their fate after the suspect was arrested and detained at the Command for committing an undisclosed offence.
During interrogation, they had exchange of words and the suspect reportedly slapped Inspector Stella’s face and injured her while Akwugo had her phone smashed and damaged in the process.
Shocked by her action, the Area Commander ordered for her arrest and prosecution over her conduct, which attracts several years of imprisonment under the law.
However, she pleaded not guilty when she was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Inspector M. Solomon, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. I.O. Williams, granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and addresses verified by the Court.
She was remanded in custody at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending when she will perfect her bail conditions while the matter was adjourned for mention.
