Lady, 38, Arraigned For Allegedly Attacking Man With Flower Vase

A 38-year-old woman, Oduah Cassandra, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly attacking and smashing the head of a man, Bassey Ekong Inyang, by hitting him with a flower vase during a brawl.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 7th October, 2025 at Agoro Odiyan Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The Police however, did not disclose the cause of the disagreement between the suspect and the complainant. The Police rather accused the suspect of hitting the victim, Bassey Ekong Inyang, a male, with a flower vase on the head, causing bodily harm. The incident occurred at her residence in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The matter was reported to the Commissioner of Police through the Gender Section of the State Command and the suspect was arrested and detained for interrogation over her alleged conduct.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found her culpable for violation of Section 173 of the Lagos State Criminal Law 2015, which attracts several years of imprisonment. The matter was handled by DSP Nosa Uhumwanchu of the Gender Unit, Lagos State Police Command
The charge read:
“That you, Oduah Cassandra f, on the 7th day of October, 2025, at about 0500hours, at 148, Agoro Odiyan Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did assault one Bassey Ekong Inyang ‘m’, by hittng a flower vase on his head, which caused him bodily harm and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 173 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
However, she pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Supol Philip Ademigbuji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted her bail with sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
