Police operatives from Bariga Division in Lagos have rescued a young lady and an Uber driver, who were trapped inside a car after inhaling substance suspected to be poisonous gas.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the lady, Odashi Ginika and the driver, Abiodun Balogun, were found lying unconscious inside a car before the Police team rescued and took them to the hospital, where they were revived.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana in Lagos. He said that on 3rd October, 2019, at about 2245hour, a Police patrol team from Bariga Division while on routine patrol along Shobande Street, Akoka, noticed a black Hyundai vehicle parked along the road with two occupants.
He said that the occupants were later identified as Abiodun Balogun ‘m’ 32, and Odashi Ginika ‘f’ 21, lying down unconsciously on the driver and passenger seats respectively.
DSP Elkana stated that the victims were rushed to the hospital for medical attention while the vehicle was removed from the scene for inspection. The victims were resuscitated by the medical team on duty and later discharged from the hospital.
The initial fear by the residents that the victims might have been induced and dumped by criminals was dispelled by the Police investigation team on the matter.
The PPRO, Elkana, stated that Police preliminary investigation revealed that the man was an Uber driver while the lady was his passenger. They became unconscious as a result of a poisonous chemical substance/gas they inhaled due to leakage from the air conditioning system.
