Lagos Can Rule Nigeria Successfully – Mayor Okeowo

The Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Council Development Area, Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo, has hinted that Lagos can rule Nigeria successfully.

The smart working Mayor of Ifelodun LCDA, Hon. Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo, while receiving the Governing Council of the Federal University of Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) in his office, yesterday, cited an example of effective African governance in Lagos State, which is the blueprint of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose power of foresight and the import of teamwork has made Lagos, the leading example of a thriving State.

‘Lagos has remained a model state because it has evolved a standard that cannot permit deviations by successors.”

He said that the Lagos State Government has succeeded in multiplying its tax revenues and using these resources to restore basic infrastructure and expand public services and law enforcement.

Mayor Okeowo further explained that field research indicates that reform commitment in Lagos was driven by electoral pressures as well as elite ambitions to construct an orderly and prosperous megacity.

Mayor Okeowo said that Lagos has successfully put in place effective implementing agencies in key sectors through the creation of special technocratic enclaves as well as managerial strategies aimed at rewarding good performance and promoting a sense of professional mission.

Mayor Okeowo, therefore, solicits cooperation and partnership of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) to allow a Lagosian with outstanding leadership qualities, extensive vision, rich experience and striking intelligence and networks of vital contacts, sense of equity, justice and fairness to take our dear country Nigeria to the best level.

Those in attendance were the Governing Council Chairman of the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti, Dr Mohammed Lawan Yahuza, the Vice-Chancellor who is a Professor of soil science, Abayomi Sunday Fasina, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Prof. Jeremiah Shola Omotola, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Professor Olubunmi S. Shittu, Mr Mufutah A. Ibrahim (Registrar), the Representative of the Federal Government, Engr. Sabo Inuwa, the Representative of the Federal Ministry of Education, Abdullahi Salihu Jubrin, Mr Alkali Aji Kolo, Mr Alani Efuntade, Dr Chika Asogwa, Professor Olaide Lawal, Dr Isaac Busayo, Mrs Adebolanle Debo Ajagunna, Mr Samuel S. Osamoke and Ajani Egunjobi.

Also in attendance were the Council-Manager of Ifelodun LCDA, Mr Wakil Ojikutu, who led other management members in receiving the August visitors with the Chairman of Ifelodun LCDA, Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo.
