Lagos Debunks Rumour On Environmental Sanitation

Posted on June 10, 2019

The Lagos State Government has debunked the rumour making the rounds in the media space on the environmental sanitation exercise as a result of the Executive Order by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

In a reaction to the news, the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, said, “Our attention has been drawn to a piece of information being shared on social media and WhatsApp groups, which states that there will be an environmental sanitation exercise on Saturday as a result of an Executive Order signed by His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on his day 1 in office as Governor of Lagos State”.

“We urge Lagosians to kindly ignore the message. Although Governor Sanwo-Olu signed an Executive Order against indiscriminate and illegal dumping of waste in the State, conversation on the return of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise is still a proposal.”

“Lagosians will be notified appropriately when the monthly environmental sanitation exercise is to commence” Mr. Akosile stated.
