Lagos Govt Promises More Support For Asoju Oba Table Tennis Championship

The Lagos State Government has promised its continuous support for the annual Asoju Oba Molade Okoya-Thomas Table Tennis Championship.
The competition, which is the oldest sports tournament in Nigeria today, enters it’s 50th edition this year and it is currently going on at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.
The Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr. Babatunde Bank-Anthony disclosed that the state government through the Sports Commission will continue to provide enabling environment for the organisation of the Asoju Oba Table Tennis Championship.
Bank-Anthony stated that the state government is very passionate about the championship being a platform for talent discovery to represent Lagos State in table tennis events during national competitions, adding that the Sports Commission will continue to be associated and support the Asoju Oba Table Tennis Championship for its laudable contribution to the development of sports in the state.
“We shall continue to support the championship for it to improve on a yearly basis. That is our commitment at the Lagos State Sports Commission,” Bank-Anthony said.
Meanwhile, the tournament entered its Day 3 on Wednesday. In mixed doubles senior quarter final results, the duo of Augustine Emmanuel and Adedeji Aisha defeated Olakunle Ajulo and Bose Akinsete 3-2, while the pairs Reuben Josiah and Bose Odusanya beat Shoyoye Rahman and Yusuf Modinat 3-0
