Lagos Organises 3-Day Training On IPSAS For Auditors

The Lagos State Government, through the Office of the State Auditor-General, has organised a Three-Day Training on International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) for Auditors, which commenced on Wednesday at the State Treasury Office’s Resource Centre, CBD Alausa, Ikeja.

The Acting State Auditor-General, Mr. Adewuyi Moshood Adewale, while declaring the workshop opened, reiterated the importance of International Public Sector Accounting Standards to the Auditors in the course of carrying out their audit assignments.

He said the purpose of the training is to acquaint the Auditors with sections of IPSAS that will be beneficial for their assignment, stressing the need for Auditors to equip themselves with relevant sections of the IPSAS to be able to use it effectively when discharging their duties, particularly the ones involving Financial Statements that are germane to Audit assignments.

He also urged Auditors to improve themselves as individuals by studying the training materials that will be given to them which will act as a catalyst for their growth as career Civil Servants. The Acting State Auditor-General advised Auditors to improve themselves by putting to good use all they will be taught by the Consultant Mr. Babajide Ibironke and by asking questions on areas that are new to them, in order to be conversant with relevant sections of IPSAS.
