Lagos Plans Stable Electricity For Imota Rice Mill
The Lagos State Government has said it will ensure that the Imota Rice Mill in the Ikorodu area of the state and communities in its environs get a stable electricity supply to enhance the operations of the mill.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Mineral Resources, Abiola Olowu, disclosed this during an inspection tour of some ongoing/completed electrification projects at Imota and the environs, a statement said on Wednesday.
Olowu was quoted as saying that given the epileptic power supply to the area, “the state government had conceived and initiated some electrification projects towards proffering solutions to the inadequate supply of electricity to the mill.”
He said the power problem would be resolved “as soon as the upgrading of the existing network from the T-off junction to the transformer and erection of high-tension reinforced concrete poles are completed with the dressing of materials and stringing of 150mm aluminum conductor.”
Olowu added that “the installation of five MVA, 33/11kv power transformer, 630A RMU SF6 VIP ringmaster with earthling is also about to be completed.”
He reiterated that the installation of a 33kv outdoor circuit breaker, isolators and 33kv outdoor transformer control panel complete with inverter and air conditioner had been completed.
This is in addition to the completion of the substation fencing with gate, the statement said.
While disclosing that the safety gadgets put in place to protect the rice mill were still intact, the Special Adviser maintained that the state government would ensure the full restoration and constant supply of power to the entire area.
