Lagos Police Arrest 27 Suspects & Recover Weapons As They Move Against Criminals

It was a success story for the Lagos State Police Command following the arrest of 27 suspects0 including a woman allegedly involved in armed robbery, murder, cultism, vandalization and others in the State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects were arrested in the past three weeks and paraded at the Command Headquarters, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, on behalf of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police.
Apart from the arrest of the suspects,  the Police recovered arms and ammunition including guns, 12 live ammunition, one knife, two operational motorcycles, one vehicle and SIM cards.
This was disclosed by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who stated that, “On June 30, 2023, Police operatives of the Command swung into action and arrested 23-year old Tobi Robert; 22-year-old, Opeyemi Adeosun; 20-year-old Jenkeo Olumide; 25-year-old Toheeb Tajudeen and 27-year-old Nurudeen Kazeem, who are members of Kesari Confraternity, when they were planning to retaliate their leader’s death on other rival cult members in Mushin area of Lagos State. Investigation revealed that they were notorious armed robbery/cultism gang terrorizing Mushin and its environs”.
“Similarly, the Police on July 11, 2023, arrested a group of boys suspected to be cultists brandishing arms to attack rival cult members in Ebute-Meta area of Lagos State. Operatives of the Command were dispatched to the area, where 25-year old Lukmon Odunsi and 21-year-old Junior Peter were apprehended with one jack knife.”
“Also, 31-year-old SegunIshola a.k.a Bouncer and 21-year-old Auwal Daudaka Blessing were rescued from being mobbed in Aratunmi area of Iba Okokomaiko, Lagos State on June 28, 2023, for shooting one Ojo Lion to death. One locally made single barrel pistol and one expanded cartridge was recovered from the scene.”
The suspects were said to have confessed being members of Eiye Confraternity. Further investigation led to the arrest of 29-year old Adejare Oyelade; 27-year old Oyekanmi Paul Kolawole; 31-year old Omotosho Tunde; 36-year old Moses Ishola; 28-year old Wasiu Ojo; 38-year old Tolulope Adebisi; 23-year old Ifeoluwa Izokpu and Adebanke Bello. Four locally made single barrel pistol with two live cartridges were recovered from them.”
“On July 10, 2023 a gang of armed robbers, 28-year old Yusuf Akeem and 22-year old Taisiru Aminu, attacked and robbed a resident of Agege, Lagos State that resulted to death of the victim. Investigation led to their arrest. One locally made double barrel short with ten live cartridges were recovered from them.”
“On June 29, 2023, a group suspected to have stolen motorcycles were arrested. Diligent investigation led to the arrest of 25-year old Adamu Hassan; 22-year old Abacha Hassan and 25-year old Abdulrasheed Abubakar. Two unregistered motorcycles were recovered from them.”
“On July 7, 2023, operatives of the Lagos State Command based on credible intelligence arrested 32-year old Morufu Alabede; 35-year old; 35-year old Idowu Raji; 33-year old Ibrahim Abubakar and 30-year old Femi Afolabi, a gang which specialized in removing vehicles from park were arrested. One unregistered Toyota Corolla was recovered.”
“On July 6, 2023, Police said that report was received on a group suspected to be vandals spotted in Iyana-odob axis of Idimu. Operatives of the Command were dispatched to the area, where 46-year old Saheed Ramon was apprehended.”
The Police image maker stated that all the suspects will be charged before the Court after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
He also stated that the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Idowu Owohunwa, has assured Lagosians that the Command would continue to do everything operationally possible to ensure that crime and criminality is brought to the barest minimum in the State and seeks for the cooperation of the members of the public for useful information to the Police.
