The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion plan to aid the construction of Opebi-Ojota Link Bridge earlier inaugurated in the year by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

A statement signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, said the construction will be in two phases, running for a duration of 16 months, while the traffic diversion plans were designed to encompass each phase of the construction period.

Explaining the diversion plan, Oladeinde advised residents on Opebi to use Opebi Link Road to access Tunde Osilaja Street and, subsequently, connect Salvation inbound Ajanaku Street to link Opebi Road, through Thomas Ajufo, onto their desired destinations.

He also revealed that a portion had been created at the Sheraton-Opebi Link Bridge to enable motorists make a U-turn into Opebi Road.

Alternately, the Commissioner stated that motorists can use Toyin Street via Mobolaji Bank Anthony to link Opebi/Allen Road, imploring motorists from Mende Road to use Ojota Interchange and connect Opebi via Ikorodu Road inwards Aderibigbe as the underpass will be closed to vehicular movement.

Assuring that officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be deployed along the affected axis to ensure seamless movement, Oladeinde reiterated the administration’s commitment to developing alternative road networks across the State to reduce travel time and improve accessibility by eliminating congestion that hinders the free flow of traffic.
