Posted on October 5, 2020

In continuation of the Year 2020 Entrance Examination (Screening Test) into Lagos State Model Colleges and Upgraded Junior Secondary Schools, the State Examination Board on Saturday conducted Paper Pencil Test (PPT) for 8,550 Primary Six pupils in 55 centres across the State.

Speaking on the conduct of the screening test, the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, stated that the exercise was smooth and hitch-free in all the centres, adding that the turnout was also very impressive.

The Commissioner, represented by the Permanent Secretary, in the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Abosede Adelaja, informed that the pupils are not writing examination but are being screened based on their intelligence in order to determine those that are qualified for admission into Model Colleges.

She emphasised that available slots for admission into the schools are limited and on merit, hence the pupils must put in their best to qualify in order to secure admission.

Mrs. Adefisayo hinted that the Year 2020 Paper Pencil Testing version of the examination might be the last one to be conducted because the State Government is doing everything possible to conduct all future tests into State model colleges and upgraded junior secondary schools in Lagos through Computer-Based Testing (CBT).

According to her, “The Education Sector is on the priority list of the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration. As such, the State Government is determined to incorporate technology into the school system, as well as address all the issue of infrastructural deficiency in Public Schools”.

While imploring parents and guardians to expose their children or wards to the use of modern technology, she declared that there are many available educational applications that would enhance the pupils’ innovation, creativity and talent.

In his remarks, the Director, Lagos State Examinations Board, Mr. Supo Gbadegesin, opined that the Board is doing its best towards achieving its set targets and ensure that the dream of conducting the Screening Test into Lagos State Model Colleges through Computer-Based Testing is achieved.
