In a strategic move to boost fish production, enhance food security, and foster economic prosperity, the Lagos State Government, through its Centre for Rural Development (CERUD), has equipped youths and farmers in Alimosho Local Government Area (LGA) with crucial skills in fish production and management.

A one-day intensive programme, held recently at the Mosan Okunola Local Council Development Area (LCDA), underscored the commitment of the Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration to the socioeconomic advancement of Lagos State’s youth and the importance of affordable food for all residents.

Mr. Musibau Balogun, Director of CERUD, emphasised the government’s dedication to uplifting the lives of young people across the state in his welcome address. He strongly cautioned beneficiaries against the detrimental practice of selling off empowerment materials, urging them to seize the opportunity for self-reliance and socioeconomic improvement.

Mr. Balogun further assured participants of CERUD’s continued support for those demonstrating a commitment to success through the training.

Mrs. Abiola Apatira-Aderinokun, Council Manager of Mosan Okunola LCDA, lauded the State Government’s initiative to develop the human capital within Alimosho LGA.

She encouraged the beneficiaries to maximise this opportunity to elevate their livelihoods and contribute to the overall development of Lagos State.

Expressing their sincere appreciation to the State Government and CERUD, the beneficiaries pledged to utilise the provided empowerment materials effectively.

The participants gained specialised knowledge encompassing hatchery operations, fish production, management techniques, processing, packaging, and marketing strategies. They were provided essential resources to facilitate their ventures, including fish feeds, fingerlings, plastic fish tanks, and smoking kilns.
