Lagos State Govt Shuts House Where Landlord Used Suspected Armed Robbers To Eject Tenants

There was twist in the issue of the house where a landlord, Bayo Alatishe and his wife, Eniola, allegedly conspired to use suspected armed robbers to attack and rob tenants in order to eject them illegally.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the house in question, located at No. , John Bamidele Close off Bishop Oduroye Street by Omo Oye Bus Stop, Abaranje, Ikotun, Lagos, has been shut by the Lagos State Government.

The landlord, Alatise, was invited by the Police at Ikotun for using suspected armed robbers and thugs to rob and destroy tenants properties in order to eject them.

However, Alatise snubbed the DPO and moved to Area M Idimu Command with a petition against the tenants in order to eject them on an allegation that he was not allowed access to his property despite the fact that the tenants had not been given quit notice.

But the tenants namely Ayodeji Bobaderin, Peter Nwachukwu,  Chinwuba Donatus, Ojo Johnson, Oyewale Olayinka, Akintade Benson and Chidi Ukadilonu have filed a suit before the Lagos Court restraining the landlord from using the Police to eject them without due process.

In the suit sighted by P.M.EXPRESS reporter, with suit number, M/SC/721/2020 before Magistrate, M.K. Dosunmu of the Ogba Magistrates Court, they are seeking a restraining order and other demands.

While the matter was before the Police at Area M Idimu Command and Court, the Lagos State Government has shut the building over suspicion of integrity fitness for habitation through the agency known as Lagos Building Control Agency, LASBCA.

When the matter came up on Thursday, the landlord’s counsel, Barrister Sora Coker, who received the service on behalf of Alatise did not show up.
But the Court was unable to sit due to Covid-19 regulations in Lagos State and the matter was adjourned till 26th February, 2021.

The landlord was said to have used suspected armed robbers to eject the tenants after he was said to have reasoned that it will take a longer time if he follows due process. He then resorted to self help to eject the tenants, which has failed so far.
