The Lagos State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has paid glowing tribute to veteran sports journalist and football historian, Kunle Solaja, for achieving the remarkable feat of covering every FIFA World Cup tournament from Italia ’90 in 1990 to the 2026 FIFA World Cup hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

The association described Solaja’s accomplishment as a testament to more than three decades of dedication, professionalism, consistency, and excellence in sports journalism.

According to Lagos SWAN, Solaja’s unwavering commitment to chronicling football’s biggest global event has not only preserved significant moments in the sport’s history but has also inspired generations of sports journalists within Nigeria and across the international media landscape.

In a congratulatory message signed by the Secretary of the Lagos State Chapter of SWAN, Comrade Omotunde Bello, the association through its chairman, Ambassador Olatutu Oladunni, commended Solaja for setting an outstanding benchmark of commitment, resilience, and journalistic excellence.
