Lagos SWAN Holds Support Walk For Gov Sanwo-olu

It was a wonderful outing for members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Lagos State at  JJT Park, Alausa, Ikeja, when the association held a Support Walk to appreciate the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday, 30 June 2022.

 

The Walk commenced at 11am from Adebola House in Opebi,  and took a tour around Ikeja with dancing and singing to appreciate the Governor who brought so much bright attraction to the people.

 

The event with the theme “Support Walk for Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu”,  was organised by the Caretaker Executive Committee of Lagos SWAN, to commend Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration for his outstanding support and commendable commitment toward sports growth and youth advancement in Lagos State.

 

Secretary of the Caretaker Executive Committee, Olatutu Oladunni said sports in Lagos has always been a vital strength of economic advancement,  integrating tool for socio-cultural growth and economic well-being, adding that sports in Lagos have taken another better dimension and which have brought about rapid improvement especially in the area of school sports among school children,  creating an enabling environment for premium sports to thrive and bringing premium sports closer to the people and ensuring lay persons have access to modern sports facilities as well as ensuring every cause of security threat are disabled.

 

“His Excellency Governor Sanwo-Olu’s passion for sports cannot be quantified, and his genuine commitment towards sports growth in Lagos is highly impressive. Having hosted several reputable sports events, World Cup qualifiers, school sports competitions and others,  it is obvious Lagos is becoming greater and better.  I wish him well and it’s also a challenge for him to do better cone 2023,” the secretary said.

Speaking on behalf of the Governor, Permanent Secretary Ministry of information and Strategy, who was represented by Olumide Shogunle, said Governor Sanwo-Olu is highly overwhelmed with this special honour and show of appreciation from Lagos SWAN members.

He commends the passionate zeal of sports journalists and the significant role they have continued to play towards sports growth through their excellent reports.

He urged Lagos SWAN members not to relent while discharging their professional duties and also ensure they build a more robust synergy with reputable institutions so as to promote sports marketing and boost sports relevance.

Shogunle, therefore, thanked the Caretaker Executive Committee of Lagos SWAN for this beautiful initiative and also commended the proper coordination of the Secretary, Olatutu Oladunni for a well-organised walk as this will also create more awareness of the good work of our Executive Governor.

 

“We wish Lagos SWAN well and the Caretaker Executive Committee members for their great work,” he said

 

For the success of the event, the Governor gave full security cover for the program by ensuring all security agencies were mobilised alongside Lagos State Ambulance for maximum safety of the of Lagos SWAN members.

The secretary commended the support from the Lagos State Government, the Nigeria Police, LASTMA, RRS, Lagos State Taskforce, Lagos State Ambulance Managing Director of LASPARK, Ministry of Information and Ministry of Youth and Social Development.
