Land Dispute: Why Patrick Ononenyi Okonkwo Is After Eletu Odibo Royal Family

Social media and the internet were awashed at the weekend by reports of a 15-year old dispute over three plots of land measuring 1,700 square meters in Osapa Eti Osa between Patrick Ononenyi Okonkwo and Chief Waheed Eletu Odibo, a Lagos whitecap chief, who is also a Prince of the Eletu Odibo royal family.
Patrick Ononenyi Okonkwo, a Lagos-based businessman claimed that the Eletu Odibo royal family tried to defraud him of 250,000 hectares of land in Lekki, a highbrow area in Lagos. His associates also claimed on his behalf that Mr Yemi Idowu, a respected property developer had colluded with Prince Eletu Odibo to prevent him from claiming the three plots of land.
These claims were refuted by the Eletu Odibo royal family and Yemi Idowu through separate press releases.
Reports confirm that the dispute between Mr. Patrick Ononenyi Okonkwo and the Eletu Odibo royal family has been in court for years and Yemi Idowu is not a party in the court case.
Yemi Idowu said he would commence legal action against the parties involved in tarnishing his image.
Many social media outlets were quick to pick up the stories before it was discovered to be false.
“Social Media should be a cause for good and freedom of information but some crooks are determined to ruin it for others, ” he said
Ramon Ibrahim, an estate agent confirmed that Patrick Ononenyi Okonkwo had a dispute with Eletu Odibo royal family over 3 plots of land measuring 1,700 square meters he bought 15 years ago and the matter has been in the civil court for years.
“It seems Mr Patrick has now resorted to other methods to blackmail the Eletu Odibo royal family to resolve the dispute,” Ibrahim said.
All efforts to contact Mr Patrick Ononenyi Okonkwo at the weekend proved futile.
