Barely few weeks after a 37-year old housewife, Mrs. Oyiza Marian Peters was stabbed with a poisonous knife and injured on the face by landlord’s wife, Mrs. Anulika Ekweozor, another tragedy struck the victim’s family in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that their flat was badly burnt with substance suspected to be explosives, which destroyed their properties including foreign currencies the equivalent runs into millions of Naira belonging to her husband.

The incident happened on Saturday night at 8pm at No. 78 Amudalatu Agodo, Cele, Egbe Ikotun area of Lagos, where they reside with the landlord, Samson Ubasinachi Ekweozor.

The landlord, Mr. Ekweozor, has been linked to the dastardly act and is currently undergoing interrogation at Ikotun Police Station over the arson which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is tried in Court and found guilty.

According to the tenant, Mr. Peter, trouble started after he paid the landlord, Ekweozor, a year’s rent last year which elapsed in February, 2020. He said that before his rent expired on 20th March, 2020, he had already given him notice to quit in order to bring in another tenant over power supply bills which he had paid but he disconnected water supply to his flat.

He said he was unable to get another accommodation due to the lockdown by the Federal Government over Coronavirus and the landlord aided by his wife attacked his wife and inflicted injury on her face for which she was still undergoing treatment.

According to some tenants, one the day the incident happened, the landlord brought in a strange face into the compound while Mr. Peter was outside with his wife, who allegedly planted the explosives through his bedroom window. It exploded and destroyed properties inside the room.

After the strange face had planted the explosives, it was learnt that the landlord immediately drove him out from the compound before the explosion which attracted their neighbours who quenched the fire that destroyed the properties.

The matter was reported to the Police at Ikotun Division and the DPO, CSP Johnson, ordered full investigation into the matter and assigned it to one female Police officer identified as Bunmi.

When P.M.EXPRESS visited the premises, the room was shattered with the burnt properties scattered all over.

Lamenting his loss in the explosion, the tenant, Mr. Peter, said, “The money I kept in the room about $30, 000 and other important documents were all burnt and there was no smoke before the explosion happened.”

When our correspondent contacted the landlord, he said he was not around when the explosion happened and it was his wife that informed him what happened. He declined further comments when our reporter confronted him to ask to know the strange face he reportedly brought and drove out with before the explosion happened few minutes as testified by the other tenants who witnessed what happened on that day.

The Police were yet to conclude investigation if actually it was an explosive that was used to bomb the flat but the residents believed it an was explosive substance.
