Landlord Kills Tenant’s 4-Year Old Son With Pestle

The landlord of 23, Adeoye Street Oko Baale Onipanu in Abeokuta, Ogun State, one Mr. Sunday Omosule, has been arrested by the police for killing his tenant’s son, Joseph Sunday Akpan, with a pestle.

According to the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oyeyemi Abimbola, the landlord was arrested following a distress call received by Police at Onipanu Divisional headquarters that the said landlord went berserk and used pestle to chase around his tenants. All the tenants fled the compound but unfortunately he ran closer and was able to use the said pestle to hit the mother of the deceased on the hand. He still lifted the pestle after hitting the defenceless woman and landed it on the 4years old victim’s head as he could not run fast.
On receiving the information, the DPO Onipanu Division, SP Sangobiyi Johnson, led his men to the scene where the suspect was arrested.

On interrogation, the suspect claimed to be under spiritual attacks which always made him to behave abnormally. The mother of the deceased who also sustained injury has been taken to the hospital where she was responding to treatment, while the corpse of the victim has been deposited at the State Hospital mortuary for autopsy.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered that the suspect be transferred to the Homicide section of the State Criminal and Intelligence Investigation Department. He said that the suspect will be prosecuted at the conclusion of investigations.
