Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority, LASRERA, has concluded plans to engage relevant stakeholders in the Real Estate sector towards redefining opportunities in Real Estate with relevant guidelines and laws.

According to a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Housing, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, the engagement, which held on Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021, at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, with the theme, “Redefining Opportunities in Real Estate: Regulations & Expectations”, dwelt on the impacts and benefits of LASRERA Law towards sanitising the sector.”

Benson-Awoyinka explained that discussions on the amended Estate Agency Regulatory Authority Law 2006, which is now the Real Estate Regulatory Authority Law 2021, became necessary in order to create a sustainable climate for ease of doing business in the sector.

The new LASRERA law was not created by Lagos State Government to regulate the real estate sector, as there’s already a regulatory body in place for that. LASRERA law was created to curb the fraudulent activities visible in real estate industry as well as boost investors confidence that there would be fairness and good business environment to run their business in Lagos State” Toke Benson-Awoyinka said.

The Speakers for the event included Mr. Gboyega Fatimilehin, Founding Partner, Diya Fatimilehin and Co; Mr. Frank Okosun, the MD/CEO, Knight Frank & Rutley; Gbenga Ismail, Principal Partner of Ismail and Partners and Mr. Wale Ayilara, Vice Chairman of NIESV, Lagos Chapter among others.
