LAWMA Boss Meets Lekki Stakeholders On Waste Management & Policing

Posted on August 27, 2021

The Managing Director/CEO, Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), Mr. Ibrahim Odumboni, on Wednesday, met with Lekki stakeholders on effective waste management and enjoined the residents to start making efforts on how to make money from waste through recycling.

Speaking further at the meeting, which took place at the Ibeju-Lekki LGA Secretariat, Igando-Oloja, Odumboni appealed to the stakeholders to desist from acts that were inimical to achieving the vision of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration on a cleaner environment.

The LAWMA boss implored the stakeholders to take charge of their environment and work with the Authority to engage the teeming youths in policing blackspots and forestall illegal dumping of waste across shorelines in the area.

He, however, enjoined the people to patronise assigned PSP operators in their domains and pay their waste bills regularly, hinting that patronising cart pushers is an offence in Lagos State.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki LGA, Engr. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, commended the efforts of LAWMA to keep the environment clean while pleading with the people to sort and bag their wastes properly.

On his part, Mr. Raheem Kazeem Adewale, member representing Ibeju-Lekki Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly, commended LAWMA for its waste management efforts and urged residents to take advantage of the economic opportunities available in recycling.

Other dignitaries present at the meeting include representatives of Onimedu, Onibeju, Oni-Lekki, Elemoro, CDCs, Lekki LCDA, Baales, Market men and women, PSP operators and Community leaders among others.
