Social critic and Public Affairs Analyst, Vincent Ezekwueme, has pleaded with the Federal Government, Anambra State Government and spirited individuals not to use BVN as criteria for disbursement of cash transfer to the poor and vulnerable.

According to Ezekwueme, the CLO boss in Anambra State, “It is an existential reality that majority of those who deserved palliatives to ameliorate their pathetic predicaments do not have account as such don’t have BVN”.

“It is pertinent to note that the use of BVN will increase vicious cycle of poverty; the rich getting richer, the poor getting poorer.”

“The religious leaders and Civil Society Organisations should be involved in the disbursement of the palliatives packages if we actually want to get it right and actualize the good intentions of government.”

“I commend the Minister of Labour & Employment on the recent increment of salary for doctors who risk their lives to attend to Coronavirus patients. Their sacrifices are most patriotic and deserved commendation and emulation.”

“I also wish to make a passionate appeal to the Honourable Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, to give strident directive to organized private sector to pay their workers during the period of lockdown and for government to sanction any company or employer of labour that applys no work no pay due to Covid-19 lockdown.”

At CLO, we pray for eternal repose of soul of the late Chief Of Staff, Abba Kyari, who contracted Coronavirus while serving his father land and for God to give the President, his family and loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable and irreplaceable loss.”

“I wish to passionately appeal to President Buhari to out of his magnanimity to consider appointing Southeasterner as his next Chief of Staff especially people like Dr. Ogbonna Onu or Chief Dr. George Muoghalu, as they are more than qualified to hold the exalted position” Ezekwume stated.

In a related development, Anambra State Branch of Civil Liberties Organisation, CLO, has pleaded with the Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano and Commissioner of Police, CP John Abang, to constitute men of impeccable integrity to unravel the circumstances surrounding the alleged killings of two innocent citizens at Nkpor.

“At this period of hunger and anger two Anambrarians were murdered by overzealous security personnel coupled with the unfortunate incidence at Umunze.”

“It will be recalled that CLO had at the inception of the lockdown appealed to security personnel to be patriotic, transparent, civil and to discharge their duties with love and respect to citizens.”

In a joint press statement issued by Comrades Vincent Ezekwueme and Chidi Mba, chairman and secretary respectively, CLO reminded the security personnel that a hungry man is not only an angry but also do not understand right or wrong except food.

“It is pertinent to understand the pathetic and pitiable condition of the citizenry hence they deserved care, concern, accommodating and tolerance.”

“CLO wishes to reiterate our position that the lockdown is for the betterment of the citizenry; it is ineluctable and inexorable for citizenry to observe the law to the letter.”

“It is of prime importance to properly reorientate our security personnel on best methods to be civil, dynamic, professional and patriotic in discharge of their duties” CLO posited.

“We solicit for more palliatives to cushion the despicable effects of Coronavirus pandemic from both government and public spirited individuals and cooperate individuals.”

“Let us unite to win this war against our common enemy. Significantly only you alone can make it happen through adhering to governments and experts directives” CLO maintained.
