Lobby Group Mobilises 30,000 APC Youths For Calabar Summit

The All Progressives Congress Youth Lobby Group in Cross River State says it is mobilising 30,000 youths from across the 196 wards in the state for a mega summit at the U.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar on February 19.

Speaking to newsmen at a press briefing in Calabar, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the summit, Oden Ewa disclosed on Wednesday that the group’s mandate was to mobilise youths to run for all political offices in the state, adding that he believed youths have the capacity to organise themselves.

“The mandate is to first of all organise 30,000 youths from the 196 wards in the state for the summit, there after the lobby group will seek relevant stakeholders to see how we can get youths involved in politics.

“We will also use the opportunity to appreciate Governor Ben Ayade for his support for youth development in the state, while celebrating some of our youths that have represented well.”

A member of the group, Mr Effiom Effiwatt said the summit was a bold effort to tell the world that the youths have come of age.

“We urge the youths to join us and make a bold statement that come 2023, the voices of young people will be heard in the state,” he said.

Also speaking, another member of the group and Director General Cross River Primary Health Care Development Agency,  Dr. Janet Ekpenyong described the summit as an opportunity for youths to ànnounce that  Governor Ayade has supported the youths and women well and called for more opportunities the youths.

She urged the youths from across the state to come out en masse to attend the summit.
