LOC Boss Excited, As 381 Journalists Applied To Cover Asaba 2018 Athletics

Three hundred and eighty-one journalists from different parts of the world have applied for accreditation to cover the 21st African Senior Athletics Championships holding at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba from August 1-5, 2018.

In a statement signed by Olukayode Thomas head Media and Publicity, he said the LOC Chairman Solomon Ogba, a friend of the media and media owners is excited that sports journalists from countries like Slovenia, Austria, Canada, England, Ireland and several African countries like Senegal, South Africa, Cote d Ivore, Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Togo, Benin, and several other countries applied for accreditation to cover the Championships in Asaba.

Thomas said journalists from African countries whose federation president or secretary will be participating in the Delegates Registration Meeting (DRM) will collect their media accreditation tags from the federation officials who will collect it on their behalf.

The accreditation tag will serve as their visa at the point of entry.

Nigerian sports journalists whose application for accreditation is approved will get a confirmation from the Media and Publicity sub-committee of the LOC.

This confirmation will be used to pick up their accreditation at the Media Center when it opens July 25.

Thomas said Sports Editors of major media houses will be involved in the process of confirmation of accreditation of Nigerian journalists,

“In a situation where we have several applicants from media houses, the Sports Editors will be contacted, and they give us their nominees”.

Thomas revealed that the LOC has put in place facilities and equipment that will make the coverage of the Championships easy for media practitioners.
