Madam Oladimeji Retires From Lagos Civil Service After 31 Years Of Meritorious Service

Family, colleagues, friends and well-wishers thronged Vetland Primary School, Agege venue of the retirement service party organized on Monday 9 September 2024 to celebrate the retirement from the Lagos State civil service of Mrs Susan Yetunde Omobolaji Oladimeji.

It was a twin event as the celebrant was also celebrating her 60th birthday on that day.

The journey, which started in 1993 with the Lagos State Ministry of Education, and with a posting to Yaba Model Primary School, Ojuelegba, Yaba took her through Estate Primary School, Ogba, Central Primary School, Old Secretariat, Ikeja, and later to Ogba Primary School, Ogba and Onilekere Primary School, Ikeja.

She later left the classroom as a teacher to serve at the School Supports Staff at the Ifako/Ijaiye Local Government Education office, Vetland in 2016 where she is retired as Chief Education Officer.

“I want to thank everyone who came to celebrate with me today. I appreciate my husband since the day I took up the job of teaching, he has always been with me. He has always been the pillar I need to succeed in life,” said the celebrant, a native of Owo in Ondo State told the gathering.

The husband, Mr Bosun Oladimeji, who could not hide his happiness said he was overwhelmed with joy because “my wife is a part of me. She is a good woman and a good wife.”

In a short sermon, the invited clergy described the celebrant as a fighter, a builder and a woman with focus and determination who loves to make impacts in the life of people around her.

“She was able to build her family, the reflection which can be seen in the life of her husband and the children.”

During the “Pen Down” ceremony when Mrs Oladimeji was formally welcomed into the fold of the retirees from the public service in Lagos State, the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, CPS Sector, Lagos State, welcomed her with songs and dances.

Comrade Omisande, who is the Chairman of the pensioners commended the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu for promptly payment of the retirement benefits of the civil servants in the state.

Born in1964, September 9th in Ikare-Akoko, Ondo State, Mrs Oladimeji attended St John’s Primary School in Ikare -Akoko and had her secondary school education at the Methodist High School, Owo, Ondo State in 1975 and proceeded to St.John/Mary’s Teachers College, Owo for her Grade 2 certification in 1984.

She got married in 1985 and had a Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE) in Year 2000 at the National Teachers Institute, Kaduna, Ifako/Ijaye, Ogba Study Centre and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Primary Education at the Open University, Lagos campus in 2018.

She started her teaching career in 1991 with the popular private Rita College, Yakoyo, Ojodu- Lagos .

A well-travelled educationist, Mrs Oladimeji is happily married with children.

A lot of dignitaries were on ground to celebrate with Mrs Oladimeji and her family among whom was Erelu Apesin Mulikat Ibidapo nee Ajanaku, an America-based nurse who owns a multi medical hospital in Akure, Ondo State, Dr Lateef Ajanaku, an America-based medical doctor, Barrister Oluwole Ademuwagun, a property Lawyer based in Lagos, General Manager of JOF Nigeria Limited, Mr. Fatai Jimoh, Mr George Mbah, a renowned veteran journalist and a host of others.
