I Was Made Cult Leader Due To My Performance As Hit Man – Suspect

Police operatives from Ilasa Division, Lagos, led by the Divisional Police officer, CSP Philip Gomerep, have arrested the new leader of Eiye Confraternity, Lati Afeez, who confessed that he emerged the leader in Isolo and its environs due to his proven performance as hit man during operations.
The 34-year old Afeez was arrested in his hideout in Ilasamaja area of Lagos after the violent clash in Isolo recently where sevéral people were wounded and properties worth millions of Naira were destroyed before he escaped.
It was gathered that after the incident, Afeez went into hiding, unknown to him that the Police were monitoring and trailing him.
Those who knew him said Afeez was a dreaded cultist in Isolo area, where he was wanted by the Police for his violent activities but had always escaped that made him invincible.
Afeez was said to have joined the group in 2018 and rose to number 6 in their command structure before he was promoted to deputy and then recently promoted to the leader due his performance in violent activities in Lagos.
But the myth and invincibility of Afeez ended on 23rd January, 2020, after he was arrested and detained at the station for investigation over his activities in the crime world.
When P.M.EXPRESS correspondent visited the station, Afeez was seen detained at the station undergoing interrogation but the DPO was said to have gone to the State Command for CP briefing to the officers from various Divisions and Area Commands.
Some residents of Isolo, who heard about the arrest of Afeez, went to the Police Station to confirm the arrest. The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, confirmed the arrest and disclosed that Afeez was undergoing interrogation over his criminal activities in the past. It was also confirmed that the suspect, Afeez, has been transferred to the Lagos State Anti-Cultism Unit for further investigation.
