Man, 22, Arraigned For Allegedly Stealing Worshipper’s iPhone Promax Inside Church

A 22-year old man, Ismaila Mohammed, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing iPhone Promax valued N850,000.00 belonging to Shina Bakare inside the church during service. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 2nd November, 2025, at Zion Believers Fellowship Church, situated at KM 100. Lagos – Abeokuta Road, Ajegunle.

 

According to the Police, the suspect pretended to be a worshipper in the church and stole the phone belonging to the complainant, Bakare, who was a worshipper in the church.

However, when he tried to escape, he was caught by security men on duty and was handed over to the Police at Alakuko Division for prosecution over his alleged conduct.

 

After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charges read :

“That you, Ismaila Mohammed and others still at large on the 2nd November, 2025, at Zion Believers Fellowship Church situated at KM 100. Lagos Abeokuta, Ajegunle, Lagos in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria. 2015.”

 

COUNT II:”That you, Ismaila Mohammed  and others still at large on the same date and within same Magisterial District, did unlawfully enter into Zion Believers Fellowship Church situated at Km 100. Abeokuta Expressway, Ajegunte, Lagos to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 308 and punishable under section 308 (2) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.”

 

COUNT III: “That you, Ismaila Mohammed and others still at large on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal one iPhone Promax valued eight hundred and fifty thousand Naira (N850,000.00), property of SHINA BAKARE ‘M’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State Nigeria 2015.”

 

He pleaded not guilty.

 

The Prosecutor, Supol Philip Ademigbuji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
