A 35-year old housewife had a nasty experience in Lagos after she was brutally assaulted and raped by a 21-year old man on her way to a church vigil.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Old Garage in Ikotun area of Lagos where she was trapped.

The suspect, Michael Adeshina, who resides at No.10 Toki Street in the Old Garage area of Ikotun, Lagos, targeted and accosted the victim late evening on her way to a church vigil. He reportedly threatened her, took her to a dark spot, tore her pant and forcefully penetrated her.
It was gathered that the victim pleaded with Adeshina to no avail; she even offered her phone, other valuables including her hand bag and Bible but he refused. He insisted on engaging her in marathon sex without her consent. She gave in when she discovered that her life was in serious danger.
Having satisfied himself, Adeshina still went ahead and collected her valuables before allowing her to go. She went back home and told her husband what happened on her way to church.
After the dastardly act, the embittered woman and her husband went to Ikotun Police Division the following morning and reported what happened. The victim also told the police that she will be able to identify the suspect. The police moved into action; eventually trailed Adeshina, the assaulted housewife identified him and he was arrested.

During investigation, the police discovered that Adeshina resides at the Old Garage where the incident happened and there had been incidences of criminal activities there in the past.
He was charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for unlawful carnal knowledge of the victim who was said to be a housewife with many children.
The Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor asked that the matter be referred to the DPP for advice.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Peter Nwaka, ordered him to be remanded in prison custody without an option of bail.
The Court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 29th April, 2019 for report of the DPP advice to be ready.
