Man, 27, Arraigned For Allegedly Stealing N8m Gold Necklace

A 27-year old man, Fayemi Babatunde Festus, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing 18 Karat Gold and Diamond necklace worth N8m belonging to Shogbaminu Temitayo. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 5th April, 2025, at Reeve Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.

 

According to the Police, the suspect and others at large forcefully gained entrance where the complainant kept the item and stole it before he later discovered that the item was missing.

 

The matter was reported to the Police at l Command Tactical Team Eko, Onikan, Lagos. The Operatives moved into action, arrested the suspect and detained him for interrogation over the missing item.

 

After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ebute Metta Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charges read:

“That you, Fayemi Babatunde Festus ‘m’ and others still at large on 5th April, 2025 at about 1100hrs at Ikoyi in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.

 

Count II: “That you, Feyemi Babatunde Festus ‘m’ and others still at large on the same day, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district, did steal one 18 karat gold and diamond necklace valued at Eight Million Naira (N8,000,000.00) property of Mr. Shogbaminu Temitayo of  Reeve Road, Ikoyi, Lagos and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 287 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”

 

However,  he pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Supol Olatunde Kehinde, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. F.M.Kayode-Alamu, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
