Woman, 37, Docked For Biting Off Man’s Finger During Public Brawl

A 37-year old woman, Mariam Yusuf, has been arrested and charged before an Ota Magistrate Court in Ogun State, for allegedly biting off the finger of a man, Ezekial Olatunji and causing him permanent injury in the process. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 23rd February, 2026, about 7.45pm at Isokan Olorunsogo Street, Iloye, Ota area of the State.
The cause of the fight was not disclosed by the Police before the Court when she was arraigned. Rather, the Police alleged that the defendant had a disagreement with the complainant over an undisclosed matter, which led to exchange of words and later to fighting.
During the fight, the defendant reportedly grabbed the victim’s finger and bit it off.
He was said to have bled profusely and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment and the matter was as well reported to the Police. She was then arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over her conduct.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found her culpable and charged her before the Court for the alleged offence.
She however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecution counsel, ASP E. O. Adaraloye, had earlier told the Court that the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 335 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.O.Fadairo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000, with one surety in like sum, who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun State Government.
The matter was adjourned till 12th March, 2026, for hearing while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
